CPR- Child and Infant

The American Heart Association (AHA) Family & Friends® CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life.

Neonatal Resusciatation Provider Training & Certification

The Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) course has been developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association and is an educational program that introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. This NRP course is taught with an emphasis on NRP in the alternative birth setting with emphasis on staffing, supplies, low tech environment and expectations of non-interventive care with family present during resuscitation procedures. Issues also included are when to transport and "how long will your oxygen last?" This is a Licensed Midwife friendly course and is designed to meet the unique needs of any practitioner delivering in birth center or home.

Facilitator: Ricci Bohaboy, RN, LM, has worked in the healthcare field for over thirty-five years, with extensive experience as a Licensed Midwife, Registed Nurse and Registered Respiratory Therapist. Ricci's passion is to teach people interested in health education. Ricci is a clinical instructor in various health education programs and offers a variety of classes, seminars and trainings for professional and family health education.

Birth Assistant Training (Level I & II)

The Advanced Doula/Birth Assistant Training is designed to give the doula, labor companion or registered nurse skills and knowledge to assist midwives with prenatal care, births, newborn and postpartum care at home and birth center settings. It will also assist registered nurses be able to offer Enhanced Labor Support (monitrice support) to women giving birth in hospitals. It is also intended to empower you to be an advocate for and community-educator about out of hospital birth and midwifery care. For those considering careers as a midwife, this course will give you basic skills and knowledge to begin or continue your journey to becoming a midwife. For those desiring to work as a Midwife Assistant, it will give you the basic skills needed which will increase likelihood of employment by a midwife working outside the hospital.

Lamaze Childbirth Educator Training
a one-day fast track seminar for midwives and student midwives

Lamaze International has been the leading provider of evidence-based education programs that prepare childbirth educators to teach with skill and confidence. Certification by Lamaze International is the most respected and recognized credential in childbirth education. In order to become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE), one must complete one of the three pathways and pass the exam. Lamaze International has established a “Fast-Track” for midwives and midwifery students to qualify to sit for the Lamaze Certification exam.  This Fast Track requires attendance at an 8 hour workshop specifically designed for midwives.

Facilitator: Ann Tumblin, LCCE, FACCE, CD(DONA), has been teaching cbe for 30 years.  She has led seminars and doula trainings throughout the world and frequently presents at international conferences such as Lamaze, DONA and ACNM.
